Miami’s Upper East Side is home to the historic MiMo District along Biscayne Boulevard.  Located in Zip Codes 33137 and 33138 Miami’s Northeast area is comprised mostly of quaint residential neighborhoods known for their architectural features and charm.


The residential neighborhoods consist mostly of single-family homes dating as far back as the 1920s.  Although the majority of the homes were built in the 1950s, you will find newer homes mixed throughout the area as well.  This area is known to have some of the oldest neighborhoods in the city.

In addition to the single-family homes, there are several low-rise to mid-rise condo buildings constructed mostly in the late 1960s to 1980s.  Towards the southern end of the area, you will find newer condo buildings as well as apartments.

Historic preservation and urban revitalization of the MiMo area along Biscayne Boulevard is one of the top priorities of the various neighborhood associations.  As a result of their efforts, the Biscayne Boulevard Historic District as seen a resurgence of restaurants, boutiques, and the restored hotels.

Neighborhoods in the Upper East Side Miami

The neighborhoods located in Miami’s Upper East Side are known for their architectural diversity. Whether it is Streamline Moderne, Mediterranean Revival or Art Deco, you can find it here.

Shorecrest: Shorecrest is located in the northern section of the Upper East Side. This neighborhood is comprised mostly of single-family homes with a greater number constructed in the mid-1950s. Although the majority of homes were built in the 50s, you can still find older homes around the 1930s & 1940s. There are a few smaller condo buildings and apartments located in Shorecrest as well.

Palm Grove: Palm Grove is a designated Historic District located between Little River and NE 58th Street.  Known for its diverse architectural period, Palm Grove is one of the largest historic districts in Miami.  Most of the homes were built between 1920-1950.  The housing stock is varied with quaint Miami style bungalows as well as post-war multi-family dwellings.

Belle Meade: Belle Meade is a private gated community located in zip code 33138 along Biscayne Bay. Inside Belle Meade is a small area called the Bayside Historic District.  There is an active neighborhood association that is involved with historic preservation and commercial development.

Morningside: Inside the Morningside neighborhood, you will find the Morningside Historic District.  This historic district contains homes built from the early 1920s and 1940s.  Some of the best Art Deco homes are located in the special area of Miami.  Out of all the neighborhoods in the Upper East Side, Morningside is known as the “boom-era” suburb, according to Wikipedia.

Bay Point: Bay Point is a private, gated community, adjacent to Morningside and is accessible by residents and guests only. Home prices begin at a little over a Million Dollars.  The majority home constructed in Bay Point were between 1940-1960.

 

Miami’s Upper East Side is in proximity to great restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.  This area has seen a re-investment in the commercial area of Biscayne Boulevard which has brought back restored 1950s hotels and art galleries.

These recent financial investments have contributed to healthy neighborhoods with stable home prices with all the historic charm and conveniences.
